# The Aether

The Aether adds a high-sky dimension filled with floating islands, new materials, dungeon progression, mounts, accessories, and boss fights.

In **Cobblemon Realms**, the dimension matters even more because it has **custom Cobblemon spawns**, including several rare and late-game encounters.

## Cobblemon Spawns in Cobblemon Realms

If you are wondering why the Aether matters in **Cobblemon Realms**, the answer is simple: this dimension is a serious custom-spawn hunting zone.

Rather than listing every single spawn rule, this section focuses on the species and biome groups that make the dimension stand out for players.

### General Aether Spawns

Across `#aether:is_aether` and the main Skyroot biomes, the modpack includes a large number of custom entries such as:

* fairy lines like **Cleffa**, **Clefairy**, **Clefable**
* flying lines like **Swablu**, **Altaria**, **Taillow**, **Swellow**
* ghost and strange spawns like **Gastly**, **Gengar**, **Misdreavus**, **Shiinotic**
* dragon lines like **Dratini**, **Dragonair**, **Dragonite**, **Gible**, **Gabite**, **Garchomp**, **Bagon**, **Shelgon**, **Salamence**
* Alolan and regional bias spawns such as **Alolan Raichu**, **Alolan Dugtrio**, **Galarian Ponyta**, and Hisuian entries like **Zorua** and **Zoroark**

This already makes the Aether feel very different from the Overworld in Cobblemon Realms.

### Skyroot Meadow and Skyroot Grove Highlights

Some of the more notable higher-value or unusual spawns tied to the open Skyroot biomes include:

* **Absol**
* **Audino**
* **Gallade** and **Gardevoir**
* **Altaria**
* **Shaymin**
* **Rayquaza**
* **Thundurus**
* **Tornadus**
* **Raging Bolt**
* **Sandy Shocks**
* several starter evolution lines

These biomes are a strong choice if you want broad rare-spawn coverage without the density of the forests.

### Skyroot Forest and Woodland Highlights

Forest-heavy Aether biomes are especially strong for:

* **Xerneas**
* **Cosmog**
* **Poipole**
* **Terapagos**
* **Roaring Moon**
* **Scream Tail**
* **Brute Bonnet**
* **Buzzwole**
* **Blacephalon**
* **Xurkitree**
* dragon and pseudo-legend lines

If you are hunting high-value legendary, Ultra Beast, paradox, or late-game feeling content, these are some of the best Aether areas to prioritize.

### Custom and Pack-Specific Feel

One of the most interesting parts of the Cobblemon Realms Aether setup is that it mixes:

* classic "sky paradise" species
* fairy and flying Pokemon
* dragon and pseudo-legend lines
* paradox and ultra-rare late-game spawns
* a few custom or special-form entries tied to the pack itself

That makes the Aether more than just a side dimension. In this modpack, it becomes a real hunting and progression zone.

## How to Access the Aether

To enter the dimension:

1. Build a **Glowstone** portal frame in the Overworld.
2. Use a **Water Bucket** on the inside of the frame.
3. Step into the portal to enter the Aether.

![Aether Portal](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/The-Aether-Team/.github/main/images/image1.png)

The Aether is one of the classic "hostile paradise" dimensions:

* bright skies
* floating islands
* no normal ground below you
* a real risk of falling back out of the dimension

If you are entering for the first time, bring:

* food
* building blocks
* ranged options
* a safe way to mark your portal location

## What Makes the Aether Different

The Aether is not just another biome pack or exploration addon. It has its own progression loop built around:

* floating-island navigation
* dungeon clearing
* new material tiers
* utility blocks
* accessories and mounts
* boss keys and locked treasure

According to the official mod description, the core progression includes:

* **Skyroot**, **Holystone**, **Zanite**, and **Gravitite**
* utility blocks such as the **Altar**, **Freezer**, and **Incubator**
* a dedicated accessory system
* dungeon progression through **Bronze**, **Silver**, and **Gold** dungeons

## Main Aether Biomes

The modern Aether dimension is mostly organized around four closely related sky biomes:

* **Skyroot Meadow**
* **Skyroot Grove**
* **Skyroot Forest**
* **Skyroot Woodland**

These biomes share the same general "floating island" identity, but their tree density and navigation feel differ.

### Skyroot Meadow

The most open and readable biome.

Good for:

* early exploration
* spotting structures from a distance
* finding several custom Cobblemon Realms rare spawns tied to open sky biomes

### Skyroot Grove

A balanced in-between biome with more vegetation than Meadows but still fairly easy to move through.

This is one of the strongest general-purpose biomes for custom Cobblemon spawns in the modpack.

### Skyroot Forest

A denser and more dangerous-feeling biome where visibility drops compared to Meadows and Groves.

This biome is especially relevant for several dragon, fairy, flying, and paradox-style Cobblemon spawns in Cobblemon Realms.

### Skyroot Woodland

A rarer tree-heavy biome that often overlaps with some of the strongest special-encounter custom spawn entries in the pack.

## Core Progression in the Aether

The rough progression flow is:

1. Enter the dimension and secure your portal area.
2. Gather early resources and basic gear.
3. Explore islands and surface features.
4. Find and clear dungeons for keys and treasure.
5. Upgrade mobility and survivability.
6. Push into the higher-value structures and bosses.

Important survival note:

* falling off the islands is part of the dimension's danger
* mobility upgrades and safe pathing matter as much as raw combat power

***

## Key Mobs and Utility Features

Some of the most iconic Aether features are:

### Moas

**Moas** are one of the Aether's signature mobs. They can become valuable travel companions once raised and saddled.

Official wiki notes describe them as:

* passive giant birds
* ridable once hatched from eggs
* available in multiple colors with different jump counts

### Zephyrs

**Zephyrs** are hostile cloud-like mobs that act somewhat like airborne ghasts for the Aether.

They are one of the reasons open-air traversal can become dangerous even when the terrain itself looks peaceful.

### Accessories and Utility

The mod also includes:

* accessory slots
* utility blocks
* unique loot from dungeons
* progression through keys and locked treasure chests

This gives the dimension a much stronger "adventure RPG" feel than a normal exploration mod.

## Dungeons and Bosses

The Aether dungeon line is one of its main attractions.

### Bronze Dungeon

The **Bronze Dungeon** is the first major dungeon and home of the **Slider**.

![Slider](https://aether.wiki.gg/wiki/Special:Redirect/file/Modern_Slider_Inactive.png)

The official wiki describes it as a large labyrinth-like underground structure built into islands.

The **Slider**:

* has **400 health**
* can only be damaged properly with a **pickaxe**
* drops a **Bronze Key**

### Silver Dungeon

The **Silver Dungeon** is the temple-like dungeon inhabited by Valkyries and ruled by the **Valkyrie Queen**.

![Valkyrie Queen](https://aether.wiki.gg/wiki/Special:Redirect/file/Valkyrie_Queen_Render.png)

Important progression detail:

* you typically need **10 Victory Medals** from Valkyries before challenging the Queen

The **Valkyrie Queen**:

* has **500 health**
* drops a **Silver Key**

### Gold Dungeon

The **Gold Dungeon** contains the **Sun Spirit**, the final major boss in the main Aether progression.

![Sun Spirit](https://aether.wiki.gg/wiki/Special:Redirect/file/Modern_Sun_Spirit.png)

The **Sun Spirit**:

* has **500 health**
* drops a **Gold Key**
* is tied to the Aether's eternal daylight progression

Each dungeon boss key unlocks its matching treasure reward, so dungeon progression is not just about winning the fight, but about claiming the locked loot afterwards.

## Quick Reading of the Dimension

If you only want the short version:

* players often go there first for the custom Cobblemon pool
* the portal is **Glowstone + Water**
* mobility matters as much as combat
* dungeon bosses gate some of the best loot
* the Aether is both a progression dimension and a major custom spawn zone in Cobblemon Realms
